A lone	 tree in a desert
like an orphaned child 
alone in a land of sand

Perhaps 
it is the last remnant
of some long-forgotten forest

Perhaps 
it was born here
somehow managing 
to survive 
the harsh hostile
lands

Or perhaps 
there is 
no good explanation
