Cycle of a Day
You wake up
in the morning
to the sun’s light.
In a fight with yourself
to get out of bed,
in a dread
of the day to come.
You walk to school
to your classes
watching the hours pass
You want to leave
but you can’t,
not yet
So you walk on and you talk
with your friends
but they fade away
You go home and do homework
and try to weather
the raging storm
but you can’t
You fall asleep
You have to fall asleep
in that coffin of sheets
you call a bed.
You are born in the morning
You live through the day
You die at night
You wake up
and the cycle begins
once more
