Inheritance

Everything was fine
till it wasn’t
Nature exists
till it doesn’t
because of the hundreds
of problems they caused

They took and they took
without stopping to look
outside
and realize

That this world
is our inheritance

When they turned their axes
on the trees
they were deaf to the screams,
using them to fuel their industry
with steam
and coal which they stole from her

They just kept climbing the mountains of trash
they kept creating
in the search of more power
while forgetting this world
is our
inheritance

and so are
the stumps
and dead tree trunks
and the clumps
of dead fish and plastic
that fill up the sea

How can they not see
what they’ve done?!

But what’s done is done

Now we must wait
Until then we are powerless
So we wait and and we wait
Till their funeral
To claim our inheritance
Or, at least what’s left of it
and by then it might be too late

This world is our inheritance

And so
are all its problems
And only we, can solve them.

this world is our
Inheritance.
